Safety
Advice
Before you drive, always make sure you and all your
passengers wear their safety belts properly.
Occupants should always wear their safety belts,
even in a vehicle equipped with air bags.
Anti-lock
Brakes (ABS)* help you maintain control of your
vehicle when braking on slippery road surfaces.
If the brake pedal pulses, do not release it-this
is normal ABS operation.Guide the safety belt so
that it fits tightly and low across your his. |
|
 |
Adjust
the height* of the shoulder belt so that the belt
rests across the middle of your shoulder.
T he adjustable head restraint* should be positioned
behind your head and not your neck. |
 |
Always
move the driver and front passenger seats as far
rearward as practical and sit with your back against
the seats.
Make sure your driving position is comfortable and
enables yu to maintain full control of the vehicle.
Drive with your hands properly positioned on the
steering wheel at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock to avoid
interfering with a deploying air bag. Do not
place or mount any objects on or near the driver
or passenger air bag* covers. To the extent
practical, avoid placing arms or hands over air
bag cover. |

Infants
under 1 year and weighing less than 20 lbs. should
be carried in rearfacing child-safety seats.
Children up to 4 years of age and weighing between
20 and 40 lbs. should be carried in child-safety
seats. |
 |
The
rear doors can be easily set to prevent children
from opening them from the inside.
*Do not hold a child on your lap while the vehicle
is moving. In a collision, the child is not
protected from injury. Never use a safety
belt to restrain more than one person. On vehicles
without Automatic Locking Retractors, a metal locking
clip can be used to help properly secure child-safety
seats. |
 |
Never
place rear-facing safety seats in the front passenger
seat if the vehicle is equipped with a passenger's
air bag.
Automatic Locking Retractors (ALRs)* help properly
secure child-safety seats. Pull the shoulder
belt outward until the entire belt is extracted.
As the belt retracts, you will hear a clicking sound
indicating that the safety belt is in automatic
locking mode and will hold child-safety seats securely
in place. |
